Language Arts - Portal Poems w/Samantha Sweigert

Language Arts is designed as a day-long exploration of writing, reading, and creative community. Our featured writer for the month of August is Samantha Sweigert, who is bringing us a workshop called Portal Poems.  The workshop is followed by an evening reading (6-7:30 p.m.) that features Samantha and the writers from her workshop. We will have a very limited open mic for community members who would like to share their work.

Portal Poems: Good poems take us somewhere or connect us more deeply to someone or something. They open doors, call bridges into being where there’d been none; they help us to both look back and reach outward. In this playful, generative writing workshop, we’ll be portal hunters together, gathering bits of inspiration from treasures and tokens, from memories, stories, perhaps even from one another.
